Mardis Gras
It may not be the time of year, but a New Orleans themed birthday celebration HAS to be done in Mardis Gras colors! Here's a two dozen cake pop display.
These Mardis Gras cake pops are sugar crystal coated with a surprise middle which is also a great idea for a baby gender reveal. Hold everyone in suspense until the first cake pop bite!

Sweet Payback
For the past couple of years, my son has played football for the Mighty Mini Colts. The head coach of the team has been Rick of the Rick and Bubba Show which is a syndicated radio show based in my area. The show's tag lines include "The Sexiest Fat Men Alive" and "We Be Big". After being around him the past few years, he is very much like the person he is on the radio, so it's been fun having a kid on his football team.
But recently our worlds collided! Family scheduling conflicts required me to pick up my son after an evening practice at Rick's home. He was running late so his wife and I chatted. When the boys came in, Rick let me know I didn't need to worry about dinner, he had driven through Taco Bell and gotten the boys some tacos. Oh, he was so proud of himself.
Here's where we collided. For those of you who don't know, I'm a dietitian. (Ironic, I know.) Loving to kid with a kidder, my response was, "Well, that's a dietitian's nightmare. My son has never had Taco Bell before." To which he responded, "I guess that's why he didn't know what to order." And from there, The Taco Bell Incident, as I refer to it, was spun into radio gold. Funny, funny stuff!
For the record, Coach Rick really did introduce my son to Taco Bell. But hey! I make cake pops. I couldn't be too serious about the incident.
Medallion and football cake pops
When it came time for the end of the season party, of course, I am making cake pops. My favorite projects are those with an inside story so I consulted my son on what I should make and he suggested in addition to the team cake pops, taco cake pops for Coach Rick. This is my sweet payback!

So there was some discussion on the radio whether Taco Bell would be at the party. It was. Just not in the way expected!

Mr. Owl
I saw an owl up in a tree
I looked at him and he looked at me.
I couldn't tell you about his size
For all I saw were two big eyes.

My Reward
Ashlee joined her mom at a Bitty Bites demo. If only I had captured the expression on her face when she took her first bite of this bunny cake pop! A smile slowly crept across her face from ear to ear. Sorry, Master Card, that was priceless and a sweet reward for me! These shots are still precious. How could they not be with those beautiful dimples!

Teach & Take Masters ~ Joanna
It was a privilege to work with Joanna in making baby cake pops for a shower she was hosting. She had a particular idea in her mind, so I asked her to draw it and email it to me.
Here's Joanna's vision transformed into a cake pop.
I snapped a few photos and emailed them to her for approval. She approved and we set the date for her Teach & Take Class.
When Joanna arrived, I went through the basics of making cake pops, providing written instructions she can refer to later. Then I demonstrated the process and she jumped in with both feet!
Look at her! Tapping and twirling like a pro!
Here's Joanna with her first finished cake pop!
Isn't she doing a fabulous job???!! (Oops! Out of focus. My bad. But you can see how they were turning out just adorable! As my daughter said, she's a natural.)
