Sweet Payback

For the past couple of years, my son has played football for the Mighty Mini Colts. The head coach of the team has been Rick of the Rick and Bubba Show which is a syndicated radio show based in my area. The show's tag lines include "The Sexiest Fat Men Alive" and  "We Be Big". After being around him the past few years, he is very much like the person he is on the radio, so it's been fun having a kid on his football team.

But recently our worlds collided! Family scheduling conflicts required me to pick up my son after an evening practice at Rick's home. He was running late so his wife and I chatted. When the boys came in, Rick let me know I didn't need to worry about dinner, he had driven through Taco Bell and gotten the boys some tacos. Oh, he was so proud of himself.

Here's where we collided. For those of you who don't know, I'm a dietitian. (Ironic, I know.) Loving to kid with a kidder, my response was, "Well, that's a dietitian's nightmare. My son has never had Taco Bell before." To which he responded, "I guess that's why he didn't know what to order." And from there, The Taco Bell Incident, as I refer to it, was spun into radio gold. Funny, funny stuff!

For the record, Coach Rick really did introduce my son to Taco Bell. But hey! I make cake pops. I couldn't be too serious about the incident.

When it came time for the end of the season party, of course, I am making cake pops. My favorite projects are those with an inside story so I consulted my son on what I should make and he suggested in addition to the team cake pops, taco cake pops for Coach Rick. This is my sweet payback!

So there was some discussion on the radio whether Taco Bell would be at the party. It was. Just not in the way expected!
